In 1649, to St. George's Hill
A ragged band they called the Diggers
Came to show the people's will
They defied the landlords
They defied the law
They were the dispossessed reclaiming what was theirs
We come in peace they said
To dig and sow
We come to work the lands in common
And to make the waste ground grow
This earth divided
We will make whole
So it can be a common treasury for all
The sin of property
We do disdain
No man has any right to buy and sell
The earth for private gain
By theft and murder
Lords took the land
Now everywhere the walls
Spring up at their command
They make the laws
To chain us well
The clergy dazzle us with heaven
Or they damn us into hell
We will not worship
The God they serve
The God of greed who feeds the rich
While poor folk starve
We work we eat together
We need no swords
We will not bow to the masters
Or pay rent to the lords
We are free people
Though we are poor
You Diggers all stand up for glory
Stand up now
From the men of property
The order came
They sent the hired men and troopers
To wipe out the Diggers' claim
Tear down their cottages
Destroy their corn
They were dispersed
But still the vision lingers on
You poor take courage
You rich take care
This earth was made a common treasury
For everyone to share
All things in common
All people one
We come in peace
The orders came to cut us down

Dig A Hole

Governor DeSantis, tell me what'cha going to do?
You declared war on LGBT
We're gonna do the same to you
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
Dig a hole in the cold, cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
We gonna lay you fascists down
Once I seen these fascists come to Portland, come to fight
There was trouble, there was sorrow
And the cops were on their side
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
Dig a hole in the cold, cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
We gonna lay you fascists down
Well the Proud Boys go to drag shows
And here's what they done found:
Family, friends, and citizens
Gonna lay them in the ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
Dig a hole in the cold, cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow
We gonna lay you fascists down
We gonna lay you fascists down

There is power in a factory, power in the land
Power in the hand of the worker
But it all amounts to nothing If together we don't stand
There is power in a Union
Now the lessons of the past
Were all learned with workers' blood
The mistakes of the bosses we must pay for
From the cities and the farmlands
To trenches full of mud
War has always been the bosses' way, sir
The Union forever defending our rights
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite
With our brothers and our sisters
From many far off lands
There is power in a union
Now I long for the morning that they realize
Brutality and unjust laws cannot defeat us
But who'll defend the workers who cannot organize
When the bosses send their lackeys out to cheat us?
Money speaks for money
The Devil for his own
Who comes to speak for the skin and the bone?
What a comfort to the widow
A light to the child
There is power in a union
The union forever defending our rights
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite
With our brothers and our sisters
Together we will stand
There is power in a union

By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling
"Michael, they have taken you away
For you stole Trevelyan's corn
So the young might see the morn
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay"
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry
By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
"Nothing matters, Mary, when you're free
Against the famine and the crown
I rebelled, they cut me down
Now you must raise our child with dignity"
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry
By a lonely harbour wall
She watched the last star falling
As that prison ship sailed out against the sky
For she lived in hope and pray
For her love in Botany Bay
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry

Fists Up, Voices Loud
03:26
|

You took the streets for dear, sweet George
Arm in arm, these bonds, through tear gas they were forged
And though they beat you with batons
Their rubber bullets and their choke holds
Still you carried on
Across the states they heard you call:
You come for one, you come for all
Black Lives Matter, No Justice, No Peace
Right here, right now, let's defund the police
Fists up, voices loud
Black and white, standing proud
Fists up, voices loud
They'll never disperse this crowd
Now they're tuning in from the world
To watch the cops pepper spray a young black girl
And they're grabbing you off the streets
No cause, no miranda
Just doing as they please
Fists up, voices loud
Sisters, brothers, standing proud
Fists up, voices loud
There's solidarity in this crowd
Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, and Botham Jean
Your signs define the pain that you have seen
Anti-racists, anarchists, and average folk
Right here, right now
You're casting off the yoke
Fists up, voices loud
Arm in arm, moms stand proud
Fists up
Voices loud

Ideology (Billy Bragg)

When one voice rules the nation
Just because they're top of the pile
Doesn't mean their vision is the clearest
The voices of the people
Are falling on deaf ears
Our politicians all become careerists
They must declare their interests
But not their company cars
Is there more to a seat in Congress
Than sitting on your ass
And the best of all this bad bunch
Is shouting to be heard
Above the sound of ideologies clashing
Outside the patient millions
Who put them into power
Expect a little more back for their taxes
Like vaccines, beds in hospitals
And peace in our bloody time
All they get is old men grinding axes
Who've built their private fortunes
On the things they can rely
The courts, the secret handshake
The Stock Exchange and the old school tie
For god and flag and Country
The things they justify
Above the sound of ideologies crashing
God bless the civil service
The nations saving grace
While we expect democracy
They're laughing in our face
And although our cries get louder
The laughter gets louder still
Above the sound of ideologies crashing

She was confused and abused in this life
Emotional and violent moments seemed to take the longest time
Every single knockout drag out fight they ever had
Apologies and dignity denied
He starts to laugh
He starts to lie with suddenly psychotic eyes
Every night she cried herself to sleep
She didn't recognize her own face in the mirror
Black & blue
So afraid intimidation like a child she hides away
He would always try to justify what wasn't true
Justified black eye
Taken for granted she sleeps by the phone
Waiting for a call from him
But it seems he's never coming home
14 beers later he is there without an answer
Once again she questions his lies he goes to bed with no reply
Tomorrow morning different story and he'll be a different guy
He'll justify her black eye with another lie
She packs her bags in great temptation
He's on his knees again he cries a hug & a kiss and I don't know why
As a tear drops from her swollen eye
Apologies until tonight and another justified black eye

United we stand -- against the filth and the fury
United and we will never run
United we stand -- we never say surrender
United until the job is done
Sharp as a razor -- Sharper that a knife
Retaliate against the hate -- it's our way of life
We got the power -- we got the key
Strength in unity
United we stand -- against the hate and the bigotry
United and we will never lie
United we stand -- we're an anti fascist band
United until the day we die
Sharp as a razor -- Sharper that a knife
Retaliate against the hate -- it's our way of life
We got the power -- we got the key
Strength in unity
United we stand -- against the hate and the bigotry
United and we will never lie
United we stand -- we're an anti fascist band
United until the day we die
United until the day we die
United until the day we die

Rad Radical San Jose, California
Make music. Make art. Then give it away.
Anti-racist, anti-
fascist.
I’m absolutely convinced of the power of the audience to come together, to help each other through bad times. It’s what the Clash did for me. They gave me music and community and politics and a belief that anything was possible. The future is, indeed, unwritten.
